The Maintenance Manager provides thought leadership, strategic planning, and departmental management of the maintenance function. The position is responsible for developing associates under his/her direct supervision. Also responsible, for supporting and accomplishing goals and objectives using the team management approach by working closely with other departments, especially Production and Engineering.
This role reports to the Director of Maintenance.
- Possess a strong background in mechanical and electrical skills
- Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical equipment problems
- Keep abreast of latest manufacturing technologies and systems
- Meets daily to discuss and resolve problem relating to production equipment, work order status, provide feedback on work status and backing
- Meets as needed to order parts, clarify purchase requisitions
- Ensure that associates under his/her supervision follow all company safety procedures and comply with personal protection equipment (PPE) requirements
- Assigns work to mechanics in his/her are of responsibility
- Ensures that proper sanitation is preformed after maintenance has been performed on all production line equipment
- Promotes and maintains positive relationship between intermittent levels of management and maintenance associates
- Requires advanced technical and working knowledge of computerized maintenance programs
- Must be knowledgeable of preventative maintenance techniques and have the ability to develop preventive programs from vendor manuals
- Must be familiar with food processing and packaging equipment and parts in general sense
- Ability to plan ahead and take initiative in resolving problems
- Working knowledge of OSHA, USDA and GMP requirements as they pertain to maintenance activities at a food processing facility
- All maintenance shop equipment inspections for compliance with safety requirements
- Ensures that daily work schedules maximize mechanic utilization, evaluates paperwork turned in and provides
- timely and meaningful feedback on work completed or pending
- Maintains the MaintScape software and implements program enhancements as they become available
- Prioritizes work orders and ensures completion
- Develops equipment maintenance history downtime reports
- Ensures that competitive bids are obtained for scheduled outside and parts
- Maintains accurate records and documentation
- Promotes and maintains positive relationships
- Conducts training pertaining to the use of the computerized maintenance program
- Ability to work in a cold environment
- All other task as assigned
- Proven work experience in a Maintenance Management role
- Expertise in utilization of computer software
- Proficient in excel and word platform
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills in all levels
- Demonstrate leadership experience with a high-functioning, fast-paced team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work quickly while maintaining a high-priority to the safety of our workforce
- Must read and write English
- High school diploma/ BS Degree in related field
- 10+ years’ experience in Maintenance Management
- Good knowledge of Microsoft word/excel
- Minimum 5 yrs experience in fresh meat production environment preferred
- Considerable working knowledge of PLC’s/HMI’s
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Job requires workers to lifting, use of ladders, catwalks.
- Must be able to: step, climb, balance, squat, kneel, bend and reach above shoulders as needed.
- Work in a cold refrigerated environment
