Director of Maintenance

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Maintenance to oversee all maintenance operations within our facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the highest standards. This leadership role requires effective management of the maintenance team, strategic planning for preventative maintenance, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.

Duties Lead and manage the maintenance team, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.

Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance management program that includes preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies.

Plans, drives, and oversees maintenance system programs to meet plant requirements.

Creates and recommends purchasing plans to implement plant policies and objectives and to attain optimum utilization of machinery and materials; with overall cost reduction.

Manages a team of mechanics and is responsible for the maintenance of the entire plant and all equipment.

Oversees and manages the system to schedule and plan preventative maintenance jobs, using KAIZEN and

One Point Lesson (OPL) on a regular basis to improve plant efficiency.

Handles and reviews negotiation from contractors such as, quotes and cost estimates. All while monitoring expenditures, reconciling purchases, and maintaining accurate vendor files.

Enhance our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and other maintenance systems.

Contribute to sustainable initiatives such as site inspections and energy surveys while remaining abreast of current legislation to ensure corporate compliance.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
    Proven experience in a maintenance management role or similar position within an industrial or commercial setting.

    Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in HVAC systems, logic controllers, and electrical troubleshooting.

    Ability to read and interpret schematics effectively.

    Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

    Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.

    Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.

    Experience in budgeting, planning, estimations and building rapport with all team members.

    Effective leadership abilities and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

    Good working knowledge of regulatory, legislative, and business environment required

     

Education / Training

Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 15 years of maintenance
experience with demonstrated success in a senior management role is acceptable.

Ability to perform and comprehend verbal and written communication in English; Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred.

Related Experience/Requirements

​7 to 10 years of maintenance experience in food processing facility is required.

Physical Requirements Typical maintenance working conditions. Will frequently enter various refrigerated areas of the plant to perform maintenance activities for extended periods of time.

Must be able to step, climbing balance, lifting, squat, kneel, bend and reach above shoulders as needed.
