Assistant Maintenance Technician
The Assistant Maintenance Technician assists with preventative maintenance on all production and packaging equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Employee will work with the maintenance team, QA team, and production team to ensure facility and equipment are serviced and available with the least amount of downtime. Employee will ensure all GMP’s, SQF, HACCP, and OSHA processes and procedures are followed. This role will report to the Maintenance Manager. Back up for the role will be the maintenance supervisor.
Performs mechanical and preventative maintenance work on all production and packaging equipment per preventative maintenance manuals
Maintains records of repairs, parts inventory, modifications or equipment, programs or settings
Assists with setup and/or movement of equipment during changeovers or expansion
Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment
Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment
Diagnoses problems, replaces or repairs parts, tests and makes adjustments
Maintains tools and maintenance shop in a safe, clean, and organized manner
Adhere to the health and safety policies and procedures, good manufacturing practices, and HACCP/SQF programs
Maintains OSHA/corporate set guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
Must be knowledgeable in equipment Lock-Out/Tag-Out requirements
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience in the food manufacturing sector
Experience as a production or industrial mechanic technician, preferably in high-speed packaging and processing equipment within the food industry
Strong attention to detail and ability to intervene safely, quickly, and effectively
High level of sound and independent judgement and reasoning
Must read and write English
Able to work flexible hours and overtime as business needs
Ability to work in a fast paced, refrigerated environment
Able to function in a team environment through communication and cooperation
nHigh school diploma or equivalent
Good knowledge of Microsoft word/excel
Standing, bending, or crouching for extended periods while working on equipment
Lifting or carrying tools, parts and equipment with an estimate weight of 50 pounds or more
Regularly moving between areas in the facility
Work in a cold refrigerated environment
